Boost anyone??

Sunday was the IndyHP Streetcar Shootout at O’Reilly Raceway Park and I would hafta say it was one of the best events I have attended at the track. There were a good amount of REALLY fast cars. It would be nice to see those cars out more often. Needless to say I took the camera out for some pics and got a few I really liked. The two cars in the pictures are two of my favorite cars in Indy. Not just because I really want to own an S2000. So while these two cars were in the pits I had a little time to snap some photos. The silver one is owned by Carey Bales whose name has been associated with fast cars here in Indy for quite sometime. This car has ran down the strip at a blazing 10.9 in the quarter. Yea, me = jealous! The red one is owned by Robbie Seal also known for fast cars around the local scene. With a turbo setup fabbed up on his own this car is clean, simple, and fast. I believe his best run is 12.3 which in my opinion is definitely movin! So check out these pics and maybe one day I will have my own S2000 to take pics of.

The Vintage Union

My friend asked me to do some photos for his band and as a budding young photographer I of course said “Sure”. This being my second band shoot it definitely went a lot smoother. Still not quite yet there but I’m learning. So check out the photos and you can check out the band here -> http://thevintageunion.com/

Been awhile.

Ok so it has been a good while since I’ve made a post and figured I should get on that. Since the last post I have went to Vegas and shot some pics for a friends band. So lets start with Vegas. Talk about an awesome place to spend a week! It’s like Disney for adults! (Though I’ve never been to Disney I get the idea.) We stayed at the Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino and it was great. The room was great, the weather was great, just couldn’t go wrong. Enough talk though, lets get to the pics!!

Finally made it out to the local drag strip to really kick off the summer. There’s really nothing like the smell of race fuel and burning rubber. It’s my favorite. So of course took the camera out and fired away. I didn’t get anything spectacular but I did get enough of a certain race to have a little fun and make a comic out of some photos. This was inspired by something I seen on a forum. I added my own touch to the processing and I think it turned out really well. Cheesey… but really well.

In the night..

Posted in Uncategorized by Brian Pettit on May 4, 2009

So went out this weekend to do some shots at night. I really went out to shoot my car but ended up shooting others instead. I couldn’t ask for a better turnout on the Harley Davidson Nightster. As for the S2000… well thats another story. Anytime I’ve asked someone how do you light a black car at night?? I am usually left with the answer of “Don’t”. Well I went out and experienced it first hand and I left learning NOTHING! I’m gonna do some more research on it and hopefully I can figure it out. So here are the pics from the weekend.

I stuck with interior shots for the S2000. I feel they turned out pretty well.

… and just so you can see what I mean about the black car problems I will post a pic.

Check back as I battle and hopefully overcome this problem.

Some shots for a friend..

A friend of mine wanted to get some shots of his 4-door Civic before he puts the ride height back to “dad status”. So we met up this weekend and I did some shots.

Some shots for fun.

Gotta love Asimo.

Still got a few more I need to edit.

Photoshoot with local band Say

Posted in Uncategorized by Brian Pettit on April 5, 2009

Hey everyone. Saturday my good friend and fellow photographer Tony Morgan asked me to accompany him on a shoot with a local band by the name of Say. I decided it would be a great experience seeing as how I’ve never shot a group before. Shooting a group is definitely different than shooting someone solo but I gave it my best. These guys were real easy to work with and a real great group of guys. You can check them out at http://www.myspace.com/urbansoulfolkfunksquad and I just wanna say thanks to the guys for giving me the chance to get some more experience behind the camera. Well I will quit rambling and post up a few pics.

Impromptu with an STI

Soo Sunday I was out with some friends enjoying the wonderful 65 degrees we had here in Indy and my friend Alex wanted some pics of his Subaru STI he just bought recently so we found a spot and did a few shots. I think we will prolly give this location another chance when it isn’t so dark. Anyway… here ya go.

2009 Chicago Auto Show

Posted in Uncategorized by Brian Pettit on March 2, 2009

Sorry it took me so long to post this up. So here we go. As stated before some friends and I went to the Chicago Auto Show last weekend. The weather wasn’t the best and the trip was a long, rough, stressful trip due to some issues with my car not liking the slick spots under the overpasses. I spun out on I-65 doing about 60mph and thought for sure we were done for. Thankfully I managed to keep my car in the lane and then into the shoulder. Needless to say after that I drove very carefully. So onto the show. If you have never been to the Chicago Auto Show it is huge! I think we were there for around 4 hours. I don’t feel it was quite as well as last years but good nonetheless. I got a few shots I liked and did some editing. Not a whole lot that really made me say “wow”. It’s a car show so you can’t expect a whole lot photography-wise. I managed to get a few shots of the Corvette Stingray Concept. There were people around that car the whole time, it was a wild lookin car. Lexus, Scion, VW, Mitsubishi, and Audi had some nice setups like last year. It was overall a good trip minus the scary drive. Not too sure if I will go back next year, definetly not if the weather is remotely bad. So anywho… here is a couple pictures that I liked. Did my best to get rid of the people that are constantly ruining your photos at car shows.

Windy City Bound…

Posted in Uncategorized by Brian Pettit on February 17, 2009

Figured I would update a little bit. A few changes have been made to my rig design and I have found someone to do some welding/fab-work for me that I work with. So basically just gotta pick up some material and a few camera grip equipment then it’s trial and error from there. Also heading to Chicago this weekend for the Auto Show. I went last year and enjoyed it so much I decided to go back this year. A few friends and a few dire stops (in my opinion) will make for a great road trip. OF COURSE the stops I am talking about include Portillo’s for lunch and Lou Malnati’s Pizza for dinner. Gotta love Chi-town’s delicious food. I will post pics when I return. Check back!!
